Frequently Asked Questions
Hello!
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about our community of faith!
Below you will find some of the most frequently asked questions about Zion UMC.
Hopefully, the answers will guide you as you discern if this is a place you could call "home."
WHAT HAPPENS DURING WORSHIP?
Our service lasts about an hour. We gather together to sing, pray and listen to God's Word through scripture and preaching. We affirm our faith as individuals and as a community. On the first Sunday of each month, we celebrate Holy Communion. We are sent out each Sunday to live as disciples, extending God's love into the community and the world.
WHAT DO YOU HAVE FOR CHILDREN?
We love our children! At 9 am every Sunday morning, the children gather in classrooms for Sunday School. Our devoted teachers are committed to providing a strong foundation of faith that will serve them well when they grow up. JAM (Jesus and Me) is a monthly ministry that is more casual and activity oriented. Quarterly, children meet on Sunday afternoons for a retreat day, often geared toward mission and outreach. Vacation Bible School is a week filled with learning, fun and fellowship. We also provide nursery care for our smallest children.
WHAT IS APPROPRIATE ATTIRE TO ATTEND WORSHIP?
We want you to be comfortable. Some people wear business casual, and others prefer jeans and a t-shirt. We do not have a specific dress code.
WHAT DO YOU HAVE FOR YOUTH?
Whether it be Sunday School at 9 am, Youth Meetings and Activities on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 - 8 pm, or Volunteer Projects, the Youth are constantly striving to put our stamp on the community. We encourage our youth to dive into their spiritual journey by focusing on scripture, leading by example, and most of all . . . LOVE!
