Health and Wellness

Zion UMC Health and Wellness Ministry

"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you were bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body.: I Corinthians 6:19-20 (NRSV)

The mission of the Health and Wellness Ministry is to help our Zion church family and community care for themselves and one another . . . to attain, maintain, and/or regain the best possible WHOLE-person health and wellness of body, mind, and spirit - following the example of Christ and guided by the Holy Scriptures.

Since 2019, based on needs assessment surveys we educate and engage all ages in health-related activities that promote healthy lifestyles. We work in partnership with our church and greater community to plan and implement health activities to meet the needs.

Whether you and your famiy are seeking a first aid for your young ones, journeying through grief after a loss, seeking to donate blood, wanting ways to build muscle strength, searching for healthy eating tips, needing ways to manage stress; our Zion Health and Wellness Ministry is here to support you.

Here is an overview of Health and Wellness Happenings

Monthly Health Awareness:

Topics are shared in our newsletter, "The Pulse" and on our CLC Bulletin Board. Guidance for all ages is provided throughout the year.

Ongoing Grief Support:

A 4-booklet series, "Journeying Through Grief" by Stephen Ministry is shared during the first year after the loss. In addition, trained group facilitators offer a six-week "Life After Loss" series when needed.

CPR Training:

Offered at intervals to keep members up-to-date.

Blood Donations

Periodic drives are coordinated with area blood banks.

First Aid for Kids:

Based on numbers of children, two hour sessions are available.

Advanced Care Planning

Important topics are shared by the Chaplain of AnMed and our pastor so families are up to date with legal health care steps, plus there is a planning guide for Funeral/Memorial Preplanning.

Health Screenings

Periodic blood pressure checks are possible.

Movement Opportunities Are Offered:

Pickleball is offered most weeks in our gym.
