Youth Ministry

Youth Ministry

Providing opportunities to strengthen our relationship with God and others is the basis of our mission.

Sunday School

Our Class is a small group but big on conversation. We dive into curriculum from several different authors in order to learn more about ourselves as well as how to advance our relationship with Jesus! These books provide conversation sparking content that drives us to examine our faith and focus on the areas we do well, but also what we might need to improve. Come dive in with us and see what our class has to offer!

Wednesday Night Study/Activity

Our main Youth Group Program centers around our meetings on Wednesday night. We meet from 7:00-8:30 in the Youth Building behind the Christian Life Center. We alternate between Youth Meetings and Activity Nights each Wednesday. A Youth Meeting consists of a lesson for half the time and an activity for the other half. Food is provided on these nights, so come hungry! On activity nights, it is games from start to finish, so bring your energy! Give us a shot on Wednesday and you won’t be disappointed!

Summer and Christmas Lock-Ins

Our Lock-Ins are two of our best events of the year, and you won’t find Lock-Ins this fun anywhere else!

The Summer Lock-In has a theme of Field Day, where we get hot, wet, and wild with many Field Day Favorites from your childhood. The Christmas Lock-In takes our favorite games from Wednesday Night and lumps them all into one night, with a couple new and exciting additions! We spend a lot of time and attention to detail when putting these events together, and you won’t want to miss the fruits of our labor!

Youth Sunday

Youth Sunday is once a year around graduation. The seniors of the group give a message to the congregation instead of a traditional sermon from Pastor Beverly. We also take part in different areas of service for the other youth such as the announcements, scripture, etc. This is an excellent opportunity to be visible and engaged with the congregation, and to put your faith to the test!

Annual Parent vs. Youth Soft Softball Game

The Soft Softball game was started in 2021 that pits our Youth Parents against the kids themselves! This was derived from an old Zion tradition when I was young and we played at an event called Zion Family Fest. Foam Ball makes this a fun and safe activity for everyone, while providing some great fellowship time and some healthy competition! Not to mention, the winner gets a giant trophy.

Youth Trips

We usually go on one big trip a year, and it’s not something you’d want to miss. Our trips from the past include:

  • Camping in Blairsville, Georgia with Whitewater Rafting and a Cave Excursion
  • Beach trip to Destin, Florida
  • Pigeon Forge
  • Skiing at Winterplace, WV and Snowshoe, WV

We also go on several annual trips including Carowinds and Big Air. These trips provide a great getaway for us to bond as a group and allow time to get to know one another, not to mention have TONS OF FUN!

Service

There are several opportunities for volunteer work each year, and we are always looking for new ways to be involved with the community. Some of the things we have done include:

  • Mulching around the church
  • Trash Pickup along various roads in the area
  • Yardwork for church members such as removing limbs and leaves
  • A Food Drive for a ministry we call Jane’s Cupboard
  • Built a ramp for a handicapped resident
  • Cleaned out a property for a ministry called Emmanuel’s Hammer
  • Joined the Woodchucks to chop wood, which provides it to local families for heat in the winter

No matter how you want to be involved, there will be opportunities to do so with our group. Doing our part to help the local community is a great way to spread God’s love!
